Train, Bus or Plane — Which Should You Choose

Comparing three modes of transport by price, comfort, speed and convenience.

Speed

Plane wins on distances over 500 km. But factor in airport transfers, check-in and baggage claim — on shorter routes, trains can be faster.

Train is ideal for 200–600 km.

Bus is the slowest but runs more frequently and covers routes unavailable by train or plane.

Bus is almost always the cheapest. Train is mid-range but more comfortable. Plane is pricier, though budget airlines can surprise.

Train leads: more space, walkable, dining car. Plane is cramped but fast. Bus varies by carrier.

Combine! Fly to a major city, then take a bus to your final destination. It's cheaper and more flexible.
